“I was diagnosed with BPPV (vertigo) and sent to Back in Motion – fixed it in one session! I am totally impressed with the professionalism of all the staff – a big Thank You!”

The vestibular system is responsible for balance and your awareness of position in space. Vestibular disorders can cause dizziness and imbalance, problems with hearing, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, concentration, and other symptoms. They can significantly affect a person’s day-to-day functioning, ability to work, social relationships, and quality of life. The source of these complaints is often difficult to identify, but can be related to head trauma (motor vehicle accidents, falls), ear infections, and age-related factors. A vestibular therapist will develop an individualized treatment plan that may includes specific head, body, and eye exercises to retrain the system, or specific maneuvers (i.e. Epley maneuver, or canal repositioning) to correct problems with the location of crystals in the inner ear. In the case of BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) treatment may provide complete resolution of symptoms in as little as 1 – 3 visits. In other forms a treatment plan involving specialized exercises, performed both at home and in clinic, may be required to rehabilitate the inner ear and achieve full recovery.\
