Jennifer Yau, Physiotherapy, BSc. PT (Hons)
Jennifer graduated with a degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Birmingham, UK in 2012. Canada’s beautiful scenery, friendly people, and vast array of outdoor activities compelled her to return to her hometown – Vancouver. Jennifer is driven by her passion for health and fitness, and the role this can play in injury prevention and improving quality of life. She focuses on developing safe, functional, and effective active rehabilitation programs so that individuals can return to work, sport, and activity. Jennifer is a certified Complete Concussion Management Clinician, and has a special interest in treating concussion injuries. Jennifer is fluent in English, Cantonese, and basic Mandarin. In her spare time, she enjoys playing basketball, tennis, snowboarding, and hiking.
Jamie Burniston, Physiotherapist, MPT
Jamie’s passion for physiotherapy began as a patient himself, many years ago. An avid recreational athlete – active in hockey, ultimate frisbee, skiing, biking, hiking, rock climbing, and squash – Jamie enjoys treating athletes of all ages and levels, from competitive to weekend warrior. He also enjoys treating workplace and automobile injuries, repetitive strains, and pre- and post-surgical conditions. Since graduating from UBC with his Masters in Physical Therapy, Jamie has been actively pursuing his advanced credentials in orthopedic manual therapy and vestibular therapy. His treatment approach combines hands-on manual therapy, client education, and therapeutic exercise prescription to restore independence, maximize functional ability, and get you back to doing the things you love.
Gary Chan, Physiotherapist, BSc. MPT
Gary completed his Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT) at the University of British Columbia. He also works at Richmond General Hospital, where he treats post-surgery patients in rehabilitation and mobilization. He pursued a career in Physiotherapy with hopes to motivate, educate, and treat clients with an active, hands-on approach. Gary is now pursuing credentials in acupuncture and manual therapy. His personal interests include swimming, badminton, hiking, jogging, and he is a huge Canucks fan! Gary is also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin.
Daniel Ciampi, Physiotherapist, BSc. PT
Daniel completed his Physical Therapy degree in Brazil, at The Catholic University of Campinas in 2001. He started his career in the hospital setting, working with a multitude of conditions, primarily with cardiac rehab. He devoted the first years of his career expanding his skills with continued education in Cardiology, Exercise Physiology and also working in private practice. Later, he moved into pre and post-op cancer surgery rehabilitation, helping clients regain confidence and achieve an active life style. Since immigrating to Canada he has worked for Back in Motion and developed a special interest for chronic pain conditions and related therapies. Daniel continues to improve his skills with continued education in acupuncture, manual therapy and active rehabilitation techniques. His personal interests include sports such as cycling, running and hiking. If you want to find him, just look around in local races. Needless to say he is a huge “Football” fan and is looking forward to celebrating the 6th Brazilian World Cup title.
Jeff Norwood, Physiotherapist, MPT
Jeff completed his Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT) at the University of British Columbia in 2008. With an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from the University of the Fraser Valley, he has developed an interest in therapeutic and preventative exercise, which initially led him to pursue physiotherapy. He began his career at Back in Motion working with active rehabilitation programs assisting clients with meeting their physical and functional goals. Since graduating from UBC, Jeff has continued to develop his skills in acupuncture, manual therapy, taping techniques and trigger point therapy. His personal interests include weightlifting, hiking, hockey and reading.
Greg Smith, Kinesiologist, BKin, FMS I
Greg Smith graduated from the University of British Columbia with a major in Kinesiology/Health Sciences and a minor in Biology. His passion for sport led him to work with the Whitecaps Residency program as a physiotherapy and Strength/Conditioning Intern. Greg played soccer for the Canadian Youth National team and following high school graduation moved to Germany to play professional soccer. After a year in Europe he jumped at the opportunity to return to school and play for the UBC Men’s Soccer Team. He enjoys using active rehabilitation along with manual therapy to help clients recover and reach their fitness goals. With the desire to continue his education, Greg plans on returning to school for graduate studies in Physiotherapy.
Dave Beinder, Kinesiologist, B.H.K. BCAK
Dave completed his degree in Human Kinetics with a minor in Counselling Psychology in 1997. Since then he has worked alongside numerous health care professionals and incorporated his own rehabilitation strategies relating to the treatment and recovery of post-accident victims and sports related injuries. His extensive experience with active rehab programs, hydrotherapy, Return to Work Support Services programs and Job Site Evaluations allow Dave to deliver the best treatment possible for his clients. Dave is a results driven individual and a team player who is always looking to make a difference in the lives of others. With over 15 years of professional treatment experience he brings a wealth of knowledge to his practice. When not in the clinic with clients or training athletes Dave enjoys playing golf, fly-fishing, mountain-biking and spending time with his family.
Eunice Lu, Kinesiologist, B. KIN
Eunice Lu graduated from the University of British Columbia with a major in Kinesiology- Health Science in 2014. In her undergraduate years, she has worked on implementing rehabilitation programs for clients with physical disabilities to help them maintain active and healthy lifestyles. She has also worked on educating patients various exercises for strengthening and stretching to enhance their recovery from post-MVA and work injuries at a physiotherapy clinic before joining Back in Motion. Eunice is fluent in English and Mandarin/Taiwanese. She likes to bike, hike, watch hockey, and explore new restaurants in her spare time.
Amy Neufeld, Physiotherapist, MPT
Amy completed her Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT) at the University of British Columbia, and joined the Back in Motion team after she graduated in 2009. Through her undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics at Trinity Western University, she developed a keen interest in exercise and fitness and the role this can play in injury prevention and rehabilitation, which lead her to pursue a career as a physiotherapist. Amy has a special interest in chronic pain conditions and takes an active approach to rehabilitation. Outside the clinic she enjoys staying active through Crossfit, golf, and volleyball.
